Our Story
Our humble beginnings take us back to 2010 when the Weby Corp company was founded. The entrepreneurial spirit and forward-thinking approach have allowed the founders to reach overall sales of $790K by the end of the year. The following year saw a growth in sales by 410%, equaling $3.3M. We moved to a bigger office and started making bigger plans.
In 2013, Weby Corp started selling on Amazon, which has allowed us to further boost sales to the figure of $4.8M. That inspired us to proceed to the next milestone and surpass the margins of e-commerce. In 2014, we broadened our reach by opening our first brick-and-mortar store. This event granted us the opportunity to connect with our customers on a deeper level, offering them a space to explore our product range and meet like-minded individuals. The same year, Weby Corp was ranked #381 on America’s 500 fastest-growing companies list, which we regarded as a testament to our expertise and hard work. This was an important milestone that showed that all our efforts were not in vain and that we’d found the area where we could apply our knowledge and skills to the fullest.
The year 2015 marked another significant milestone for Weby Corp and what would later become Gritr Sports. We expanded our online store to include firearms and shooting gear to cater to the needs of an even wider audience of sports enthusiasts. Without this step, this blog would never come to be. This is also the time when the first articles appeared on this blog.
In 2016, we launched two new websites that will later be rebranded as Gritr Sports and Gritr Outdoors respectively. The following year, we expanded our inventory to include running gear and opened yet another brick-and-mortar store, Run United.
By 2019, Gritr Sports’ assortment included equipment for winter sports, equestrianism, casual & lifestyle clothing, and even products for pets. We’ve also launched our own brand of GRITR Holsters and moved to a new building, even bigger than the previous one.
In 2020, our websites underwent a rebranding and got the names you know now: Gritr Sports and Gritr Outdoors. This marked a new chapter in the company’s history, reflecting our evolution and transition to a new level. It was also the year we opened our shooting range (GRITR Range, as you might guess).
For the next two years, challenging as they were, our company kept growing and expanding. We diversified our inventory, became sponsors for several charities and sports teams, completed rebranding, improved our shooting range, and retained our positions in the Top 500 Amazon sellers and GunBroker 100 Top Sellers lists. The year 2023 wasn’t easy either, but here we are, still standing, still doing the things we believe are worth doing.
Our Mission
At Gritr Sports, our mission is to provide people with the goods and information they need. Our store specializes in firearms and ammunition, and we strive to meet the needs of our customers. Our commitment has been unwavering since our inception in 2010, even before we began selling guns and firearm-related products.
We aim to offer an extensive assortment of products to support a wide array of outdoor pursuits with a big focus on shooting. This includes hunting and shooting gear, with a selection that encompasses firearms, bows and crossbows and all the related accessories. Our goal is to ensure that hunters and shooters of all skill levels can find the equipment they need at our store.
In addition to hunting and shooting gear, we provide top-notch camping and survival equipment. We recognize the fact that our customers have a lot of interests and try to cover those that might overlap. When it comes to braving the great outdoors, quality gear is a must, and we are dedicated to offering products that are not only durable but also innovative and user-friendly.
To further support our customers, Gritr Sports & Outdoors operates a gun shooting range. This facility provides a safe and controlled environment for target shooters to practice and hone their skills. We believe in the power of community, that’s why we operate a brick-and-mortar store and that’s why we opened an indoor shooting range. To build one. We also believe in responsible firearm ownership and the importance of safety above everything else.
Our Vision
Our vision is represented in our name. GRIT is defined by Merriam-Webster’s Dictionary as: “firmness of mind or spirit: unyielding courage in the face of hardship or danger.” That’s the attitude we adopted a long time ago and that’s the attitude we want to spread with the products we sell and services we offer. Grit is what distinguishes the ones that will keep going and those that will stop. And grit we have aplenty. We have GRIT multiplied by the power of R (Resilience, Resourcefulness, Resolve). We are GRIT-R than GRIT.
Our Achievements
– Fastest Growing Company: In just four years after our launch, Weby Corp made it to America’s 500 fastest-growing companies list, ranking at #381 in 2014. We remained on the list for five years straight, before we grew too big to keep growing fast.
– Ever-expanding Inventory: Gritr Sports began selling hunting and shooting gear in 2013, marking the start of our journey into becoming a comprehensive sporting goods store. In 2015, we further expanded our product range by introducing firearms and shooting gear. By 2019, our assortment included equipment for winter sports, equestrianism, casual & lifestyle clothing, and even products for pets.
– Brick-and-Mortar Store: The opening of the first brick-and-mortar Gritr Sports store in 2014 was a significant milestone for our company. The physical store allowed us to provide a hands-on shopping experience for customers and began building a community of like-minded individuals.
– Shooting Range: In 2020, we opened our own indoor range to provide a safe space for shooters to hone their skills and meet each other. We take great pride in our range and believe it to be one of the staples of our community.
